Household pets

Pepper (12) hasn't been doing the best lately, although she seems to have recovered from her October hepatitis scare.

Getting naughty with new food.

Looking out the window with blind eyes...

Iver (7), resident critter-finder: "When Pepper dies, can we get another pet? Like maybe a lizard or a snake?"

Me: "No. I don't like reptiles and having creepy-crawly things in the house. And we don't have an appropriate tank."

Iver: "How about a frog?"

Me: "No, see comment above."

Niall (4): "BUT THAT'S AN AMPHIBIAN!"

The kids caught a probable salamander (whom they named "Lizzo") in the garage yesterday.

They then proceeded to construct an indoor habitat (which I requested stay outside).

And now the creature has disappeared from the habitat.

So there is a creepy-crawly amphibian somewhere in our house.

Here's hoping it found its way back outside.

Sigh.

Wishing we could stick with cuddly pets like this one!
