October just flew by. I actually love the month of October- the crisp days, the colorful leaves, and more rainy days to sit inside, reading and drinking hot beverages (and worrying less about the drought and fires in California). I don't love Halloween and costume parties, but I do love scary movies, as well as fall activities like pumpkin picking and don't mind carving. This year, we were out of town for a few of the weekend days and the month just flew by. Just like that, it's November; here's the recap.
When Kelvin and I were in Seattle, Iver participated in the end-of-cross-country season championships and got a 9th place ribbon in the K-2 group which had a one-mile race. Thankfully, we had friends cheering for him and who sent me video of his strong finish, eking just ahead of friend Jon, pictured here.
Fall soccer is now also over (to some relief). Iver had a great time in his fall soccer league. I believe their team (the Ice Dragons) finished with a 7-2 record, and Iver improved a ton in passing, defense, and offense, even scoring several goals, including one in the last game (a win) this past Saturday. However, getting him to/from the biweekly practices and then the weekly Saturday games was a big commitment and challenging for us working parents (he was in the wrong place twice in one week).

Our friends, Kieu and Jimmy, visited us en route back home in San Mateo after vacationing on the Oregon Coast, and caught the last game.
We had a great time reconnecting with these friends of K's from middle and HS in OC, enjoying homemade meals (it's nice to cook for people who appreciate good food, UNlike my kids) and staying up late chatting!

Niall got to go to a pumpkin patch with his preK class, and came home with just about the tiniest pumpkin imaginable (not pictured here), which was uncarvable!
We had to replace it with one grocery store pumpkin but the pumpkins were carved just in time for the holiday.
The kids were really excited to dress up for Halloween and have their parades at school. Iver was a zombie and sprayed his hair silver, and Niall (who initially wanted to be Robin Hood) changed his mind at the last minute and recycled his Spiderman outfit from last year (at least it's getting use!).

I was busy with a laboring patient, but the kids had a great time trick-or-treating (Iver with Hudson & friends in a different neighborhood and Niall in ours).
October's a wrap-phew!
