Family photos

We try to take Vu family portraits every couple of years or so when K and I are "in town" to join the rest of the locally- or at least SoCa-living family (Theresa came up from San Diego). We had a "black and white" theme this year and last weekend, I got to get some use out of some WHITE maternity pants, although I'm sure that wearing them was some kind of fashion faux pas due to it being well after Labor Day (but does that apply in California? Or to pregnant women?).  :). We used the nice setting of a park in Irvine near Kenn and Lisa's place (the same location for my maternity photos) and, with their professional camera, eye, and remote control, didn't have to hire anyone!

Maternity Shoot

I was not planning on doing a formal "maternity" photo shoot this pregnancy. While I have seen gorgeous photos (and lovely newborn photos) from friends who have been pregnant, I didn't think I would really feel comfortable in front of a camera to pose and feature my belly and, truthfully, didn't know if I felt the costs would justify the session.  However my very talented brother-in-law Kenn, who has a side photography business "Left on Emerson," offered to take some "quick" ones for me/us this past weekend when we were in Orange County. We really spent about 10 min before the sun went down taking these photos for fun, but they turned out so, so well, and it turns out that I feel comfortable sharing them. This is one of the nicest gifts I have ever gotten-- the memory of this special time.  A huge thank you to Kenn and Lisa!

Pre-baby celebration #2

We had a very informal party at Chamreun's house in Anaheim on Saturday to hang out with our SoCal friends before still-unnamed baby arrives next month (or, if late, in January). 

Katherine made a beautiful dessert table and coordinated the yummy Thai and Vietnamese food.   There was so much socializing that we, unfortunately, didn't get pictures with/of many of our guests; thank you to everyone who came to visit us and for your generosity!

33 year milestones!

We came down this weekend to Orange County  (probably our last trip before baby!) to hang out with Kelvin's family.

Friday night, we had home-grilled Korean barbeque.

We also had a chocolate bomb cake to celebrate both my upcoming 33rd birthday next week and K's parents' 33rd anniversary which was this Friday the 14th.

(I'm so glad I don't [um, didn't] have gestational diabetes!)

I was treated to a lovely spa prenatal massage in the afternoon as an early birthday present (thanks, honey!). It's been a good 33 years!
