Emotional Regulation

Iver is still on the "spirited/explosive" side as far as child temperaments go and we've been working hard on "calming" measures that he can use to work through his frustration especially when he gets into the "red zone."  In his first grade class, they have a "calm down corner" for kids.  During a calm morning, he came up with this chart of "good behavior choices" for when he's having a rough time which definitely made me chuckle.

The beach has well-documented mental health benefits for emotional regulation, and we are thankful to live so close to great ones.  There's nothing like an afternoon of "beach therapy" to calm everybody down!
