Golden State Warriors! (vs. Lakers)

On Friday night, we got away for another (two in one week! Thank goodness for grandparents!) date night, to go see the Golden State Warriors (our team!) vs. the LA Lakers (K's former team!).  I totally got on the GSW (as a medical provider, seeing these initials always makes me think of "gunshot wound") bandwagon about two years ago, as they were (and are) an extremely fun offensive team to watch (and now, with Kevin Durant joining the Splash brothers of Klay Thompson and [the most impressive shooter I've ever seen] Steph Curry, it's even more fun!). We were disappointed to see their record-breaking team lose in the NBA finals last year to Cleveland, but we've always wanted to catch a game.

Oakland's Oracle arena, their home stadium, is still a far (5-hour) drive for us, so how lucky we were to see that they were playing "on the road" down in LA's Staples Center while we were here for the week, and we only had to drive for 40 (traffic-free, thankfully!) minutes to get there. While I might have seen an NBA game once or twice in my life (although I can't seem to remember where... ? Sacramento Kings?), it's been a long time. Off we went!

We had dinner with a UCLA friend, Lauren and her husband Luigi, who live just a few blocks away, and then joined Kimie and Vin for the game.

 

At halftime, we watched the Chair Artist.

 

It wasn't a hugely competitive game (the Warriors won by about 20 points), but it was still fun to watch it live (with key replays on the Jumbotron).  We hope for better success in the playoffs this season and hope to bring home the Championship trophy to northern (er, central California).

BillyBeez!

Instead of shopping, on Friday, we ventured to Billy Beez, a kids' indoor playground/park in Anaheim.

It was an amazing place for Iver (and most kids, I'd imagine), who burned off a ton of energy climbing the foam walls, going down slides (with aunties), and playing in the different "rooms" (hospital, bank, grocery mart, etc).  Kingston would have loved it, too; however, he freaked out getting into the carseat with us non-primary-caregivers, and thus didn't make it there.  We got some great pictures which capture the joy in our little boy!

If you are in the Anaheim area, and have to entertain a child on a rainy (or even a not-so-rainy) day, this is a great place to play for a few hours!
