Last of the East: Clemyjohntri, SNOW, and living room show!

McLean had an amazing kids' park, Clemyjohntri, where we spent some time even on the cold (20-degree) days in Virginia.

On the night of the 29th, it snowed (a small amount), which was fun for Iver to see!

(His last snow experience was exactly two years ago in Big Bear!).

Iver enjoyed his Christmas gifts, particularly magformers, books, and percussive instruments, and put on concerts for Grandma and Grandpa.

It was a great visit out East, with some quick visits with other friends (Jordan, Anna, Jesse, Laura/Sean, and the Heimers) unfortunately not photo-documented.  Here's to 2018!

Like Old Times in Cary

While on the East Coast, we were able to connect with my great old friends from college, Laura and Tony (and their family) in Cary, NC (which is about a ~5-hour drive from NoVA [and ended up being a bit more due to roadwork and accident traffic on the I-95 and I-85). They have a lovely home and we enjoyed goofing around with their kids, Abbie (8) and Jason (6) and visiting some triangle-area sites.

The Raleigh Children's Museum "Marbles" was a half-day hit!

It was cold, but we enjoyed some time on the slide and tag in the backyard "park"! Iver loved Abbie and would follow her around everywhere, which was really cute!

There were indoor antics, too (Jason: "here, let me tie up your feet and drag you around the living area!")

 

Snacks and dinner

We visited North Carolina's Chinese Lantern Festival at Booth Amphitheater in Cary on a cold night!

The displays were really beautiful!

Our sendoff breakfast included Harris Teeter donuts!

Guilty-looking! (and no, he did not eat the whole thing).

 

It was a short, but a fun visit with great friends we wish we saw more of (unfortunately, we live a long 2985 miles away)!
