The Russian Sleeper: Moscow to St. Pete

On Tuesday night, our adventure was riding an overnight or "sleeper" train from Moscow to St. Petersburg, which is about 800 km away. Without Mindy, we had quite a time navigating the Moscow Leningradsky Train Station (“Voksal”) trying to exchange our train ticket vouchers for actual tickets (which had not a word of English on them), and then trying to figure out from where the train actually left.  Luckily, after asking official after official (who, while they spoke no English, pointed us in the right directions), we found the train. 

I had taken a few overnight trains on Laura and my Euro Tour 2003 (and almost got robbed on one in Italy); however, this experience was much better and was quite comfortable! They gave us a lunch box, bedding, and we (not too worried about theft in the one single girl who also shared our cabin) all three slept almost the entire way of the 9.5-hour ride, arriving in St. Petersburg this morning to start a new day!

It took us a good long while to find the reception area of St. Petersburg Christian University, where we're staying for two nights in a two-bedroom apartment... but we finally made it here, safe and sound!

The internet is pretty slow, so I haven't been able to load many of our other Moscow and St. Pete pictures, but stay tuned. This city rocks!!
