This has been the third year in a row that we've been to the Fieldbrook Valley Apple Farm. It's a fun experience for little ones (and provides a nice backdrop for photos). You can (pay to) pick apples off the tree at $1/pound, but picking a heaping bucket of grounded apples allows you to make a $10 gallon of cider and delights (and occupies) young children for quite a long time!
We invited several friends/families including the Johnsons, Larsons, McCombers, and Young-Cushing/Taylors along with us on a sunny, warm "fall" (a.k.a. Humboldt summer) afternoon. Our group ended up with ten adults and ten kids under five (five three- and four-year-old boys, three toddler (1-2) year old girls, and two infants [Niall was sleeping in a stroller the whole time and wasn't a part of any photographs]). I realized that all of us (with kids) have firstborn boys born within five months of each other! These parents and friends really make up our village here in Humboldt!
