Our spring "vacation" started on the west coast and included a 12-hour layover in Phoenix, a city we explored back in February. We didn't have time back then to visit the LEGOLAND discovery center, but had purchased combo tickets and this time, we rented a car and passed an afternoon and escaped the 90-degree weather at the indoor playground, which is housed in a mall that also includes the SeaLife aquarium.

Needing my daily dose of nature and despite the fact that we had to board a nighttime red-eye flight to Miami, I talked the family into a short sunset walk at Papago Park when the temperature had dropped a bit.
We hiked to this "Hole in the Rock."
Niall was neither excited for walking, nor photo-taking.
It was a popular spot to view the desert sunset.
Our flight leaving Phoenix was at 10:30 pm, and the kids thankfully got some pre-flight airport napping in and then slept on the flight (however, Niall had a 30-minute meltdown when he was aroused for boarding).
