After Dubrovnik, we spent two and a half days in and around Split, another coastal town in Dalmatia (Dalmacija) county about three hours' drive (including a 4-km transit stretch through Bosnia, which I'm wondering if we can count as a country) north of DBV. Split (albeit a larger city) was more laid-back and cheaper than Dubrovnik, but equally charming.

We had booked another AirBnb apartment very close to the Old town, and we enjoyed the air-conditioned family bedrooms and balcony views of Marjan Hill.
The Europeans do so much right: far superior strollers, and cribs on wheels!
We enjoyed wandering the grounds of Diocletian's Palace, which was built in 305 AD for the Roman emperor that bears its name.

The Riva is a waterfront pedestrian promenade lined with restaurants and shops.

We hiked to the viewpoint on Marjan Hill.
We have enjoyed some great meals, and loved terrace/outdoor eating (except for the mosquitoes)!
