One-on-One Son Fun!

It's rare that I'm single parenting with one child, but Kelvin volunteered as a chaperone for Iver's fifth grade school trip to San Francisco, and Niall and I had Thursday-Sunday on our own.

We checked out a CA State Parks pass and headed to Sue-Meg (formerly Patrick's Point) State Park after school on Thursday for some beach time!  Niall had visited for (possibly) his first time on a school field trip the week before and had been asking to go back because it was "so fun" and he loved  being picked up early to spend an afternoon outside there! 

This state park is right on the ocean, and features beautiful viewpoints like Wedding Rock (the site of many weddings) as well as beaches (Agate Beach).  

We first did a little hiking to Mussel Rock viewpoint.

We hunted for agates at Agate Beach (came back empty handed).

Niall was excited to revisit Sue-Meg village, which has traditional native housing with small round doors to keep out bears!

We had a nice relaxing Friday night watching "GOAT" on Netflix, and time at home on Saturday morning to putter (garage decluttering has been my current major project!)

The kids overnighted at the aquarium part of the California Academy of the Sciences. Iver loved the planetarium! 

After an early (5:40-6 a.m.) wake-up, they were back on the road home on Saturday. 

Iver was thrilled to have his papa on his trip (and a car shared with friends). It was good for all of us to have some "special" time with one of our kids!
