- That residency give me more time off so that I can blog in more elaborate posts than just a few sentences.
- The movie Mamma Mia if you: 1. are a girl, 2. like ABBA (Dad, you would hate this movie!) 3. enjoy watching people break into random song and dance and 4. are up for a cheesy flick (Amy, Kate, and I saw this on Friday)
- Pampering oneself once in a while... Tired of having aching feet every day I have worked in residency, today I bought myself a foot massager from Target. I am using it as I type and love it!
- That you check out Shomir's bilitool if you ever want to know what to do with a jaundiced neonate. It is soooo helpful to decide how to manage the daily transcutaneous bilirubins we get on the babies in the nursery.
- That you come to visit me in Sacramento. Hans and Rachel may swing by here next Saturday on their way back from their honeymoon in Tahoe (they fly in and out of Sac), but I won't see them for more than a couple of hours for breakfast, most likely.
and, from you:
- Book recs? I start an outpatient (yay!!!!) rotation in 2 weeks and am looking forward to (I hope) have time to do some pleasure reading. I will try to get some library books and need some recommendations.
- Travel recs. Shomir and I think we're going to try to go to Guatemala/Belize as well as Boston to visit his sister and family during our first vacation block (Oct 18- Nov. 1) and I need some recommendations of specific places to go to plan the itinerary.

Book recommendations:
Marley and Me -- great, frivoulous read.
Belize -- we took a ferry up the river and had a local meal. It was GREAT and then of course, we toured the Mayan ruins.
Book: Picture Perfect, Jodi Picoult -- just finished it last night. A good read, though the subject matter is a little heavy/unsettling.
Belize: Go Cave Tubing!! It was the greatest thing we did on our honeymoon! We took a bus out into the boonies and they dropped us off to ride the river for a while, followed by a delicious lunch of authentic spicy chicken and rice.
Mamma Mia: I thought it was cute too, though I literally laughed out loud every time Pierce Brosnan started to sing! :) He should stick to non-singing roles.
I am glad that you will be able to go on some vacations...how fun! I don't have any recommendations for books or travel...sorry! But I thought I would just say hi!
thanks for the recs... how about specific names of places? towns/boat places?
laura- i think i've read picture perfect. i love all jodi picoult books! and i'm totally w/ you with pierce brosnan.
I went to Belize in November of 2007 and it was amazing. I have the Lonely Planet book on belize if you'd like to borrow it (kill two birds w/ one stone...pleasure reading and travel). I have tons of pictures if you'd like to see them as well.
Recommendations on books I have read in the past year: Eat, Pray, Love.
David recommends for reading: Arnold Henry's Extensile Exposure, 3rd edition. :)
For vacation, he recommends going to Tela, Honduras. :)
Other than that, no recommendations. Don't eat any more guinea pigs. :)
Miss you!
Darina, I would love to borrow your lonely planet! I love that company... and we need ideas! :)i LOVE pictures (and also that book eat, pray, love). we have to have coffee and chat or something!
David- what kind of book is that/?!?
There is a fabulous book called "The Friday Night Knitting Club" that you should check out.
I also saw Mamma Mia and agree with Laura - Pierce should stick to non-singing roles!
