It was absolutely gorgeous! Clear lakes, rolling hillsides, cows, horses, trees, etc... It was striking how soon outside Sacramento I was back in a rural area, with fruit trees, farmland, etc. I passed by Lake Beryessa and then drove down through Napa Valley and then to Pt. Reyes National Seashore. I intended to go to Muir Woods, a 500-plus-acre redwood forest on the coast, but parts of Highway 1 were closed and so I took a detour through another gorgeous pine forest whose name I can't remember or spell. To the right is a picture of the California redwoods that I didn't quite get to see :)

I was so tired today! I think it's partly the exhaustion of interviewing, for I did sleep in this morning, but driving just made me sooo drowsy. I had to pull off into one of the scenic points and take a nap in the car! And then, when I got back to Palo Alto, I crashed again until Erin got home.
Then Erin, TJ, and I went out to eat at Max's Opera Cafe, which is a restaurant at the nearby Mall. The food was awesome (dessert included a double chocolate decadence fudge brownie sundae which we three shared-- Wendi, you would have been in heaven!). But what was the neatest about this place was that many (most) of the waiters and waitresses are phenomenal singers and, throughout their shifts, will get up and perform numbers with piano accompaniment. It's really cool (In figuring out whether we should go to this place or somewhere else, TJ asked me, "Tara, you like singing and stuff, right?" :)! Unfortunately, I forgot to bring my camera to the place so I have neither photos of our lovely food (Erin got this big stuffed chicken!) nor the singers, but you'll have to take my word for it.
We then came back to the apartment and played this fun card game Erin learned on the psych ward (not from patients, though!) and just chatted. It's now all of our bedtimes so I will have to go for now.... I'm not sure what tomorrow has in store for me but, let me just say, I am LOVING being on vacation!!!

Did you play GOLF!? I love that game.
Oh Wendi-- there's no way you could finish this one yourself-- we had a hard time with three of us. It was a fudge brownie with a heaping serving of ice cream (I got to pick the flavor so it was vanilla, NOT CHOCOLATE), marshmallow creme, and fudge sauce... mmmm.
As for the card game-- I'll have to ask EVB about the official name. I don't think it's golf, although I don't know that I've played that one. It's really easy though!
