Dragon Suits

Iver and Niall were gifted by the cousins two "dragon" (or dino?) hooded pajamas last year on the Vus' Cruise.... which were forgotten about until about this week.  I saw a kid wearing the exact same outfit after Niall's swim class, and he brought his back out to warm up after his lesson.

We watched "How to Train Your Dragon" on Netflix on Friday during "family movie night," and the kids' interest in dragons (and matching outfits) was renewed.

What do you know but, when Kelvin and the kids were shopping on (another rainy) Saturday morning, they found more dragon outfits at Costco! We are not a family that does cutesy matching Christmas PJs or anything (nor are we generally adults that wear hooded pajamas), but Niall was insistent that we "match," so he talked Kelvin into buying a set of matching fleece zip-up dragon (?) outfits (there are no wings nor tail so we are guessing). K and I got the "kids' large" size, and they actually (sort-of) fit. I will admit that they are quite warm and cozy!

Niall has been wearing his nearly non-stop at home, and it does really provide me a nice, fun alternative to my ever-worn robe as an extra indoor layer.

Twinsies

Kelvin and I don't share many similar-colored wardrobe items but we ended up "twinning" it at Iver's soccer game last weekend.  To be fair, I did get dressed first on Saturday in my new burgundy leggings (with a phone-holder pocket, as I've been doing a bit more running lately, and our weather is definitely turning fall-like). Kelvin scored some $5 joggers at Costco, and ... here we were:

Incognito?

When you try to be "camouflaged" in your favorite attire, but your ill-fitting pants and orange undies give you away...

Koalified 4-ever!

I have to say that I'm not a super sentimental parent about the newborn and little-kid stages of my kids. I adore that they're getting older and have real interests, personalities, and we can connect better as humans (not just as parent/children).  I am a super anti-baby-stuff hoarder and have relished in getting rid of (rehoming, mostly) all of their well-loved infant and toddler clothes and gear as soon as our youngest, Niall, outgrows things.

Nevertheless, I couldn't bring myself to part with this toddler shirt (Trust me, I'm Koalified) that both kids wore frequently. I think it was given to us/them by their aunt Katherine, although I admit I am not 100% sure.

(Iver, left, in ~2017 and Niall, R in 2021)

I found an Etsy seller (Angela) to turn it into a Keepsake bear, and it arrived this week.

I love the product so much that I am considering enlisting Angela to re-purpose another item of favorite kids' clothing, like the bear hoodie that Niall wore for about two straight pandemic years!

Rockin' the Plaid

The pictures speak for themselves!

(Thanks to my mother-in-law for so many wonderful masks!)

(Katherine edited this photo!)

(if my two-year-old can keep a mask on all day except for while eating and sleeping with a smile on his face and thumbs up, so can you!)

Cringe-wear

I'm not sure who gave us this shirt but today was the first time Iver wore it. The grammarian in me is having a really hard time with the horrendous misuse of the apostrophe(s) and I'm thinking this shirt has GOT to go!

Sharing the summewear

Having two active boys has been pretty challenging at times.  I'm surprised no one has ended up with a serious laceration nor a broken bone yet. In fact, when I found out early in my second pregnancy that I was having another boy, I was just a touch disappointed (briefly), because (not to be sexist, but) I wondered if a girl would be lower in energy/less spirited than was our #1, and would complete our balanced family (I did not desire more than two kids ever).  However, I quickly moved on and began to relish the idea of just having another healthy child, and was thrilled I didn't ever have to go girl-clothes-shopping (I am all about the hand-me-downs) or deal with fashion choices/headbows (ugh!). [What I didn't anticipate was how strongly my oldest feels about his clothing, especially having a preference for wearing dresses at home).

Iver has been extremely into his tank tops lately, and he's gotten great wear out of them, us having a great stretch of truly summer-like weather lately.

While toy- and fly-swatter-(a popular item in our house!) sharing is somewhat touchy, Iver is pretty generous with sharing food and clothes with his younger brother.  We realized that while Iver can still fit some 18-24-month outfits, he's more of a 3T size now for most things, and, while Niall (18 months) can still fit some 9-month outfits, he can pull off the bigger shirts.  We did a little shirt swap this weekend, and check out the wearer(s) of the popular orange tank.

Here's hoping these two little goofballs will always be the best of friends (, share always, and also avoid bodily harm).
