It's crazy that summer has now become "fire season" in the western US (and in other parts of the world as well!). We definitely felt Europe's heat wave last week, and understand there are serious wildfires in Spain, France, and Greece. We evacuated from an Alberta wildfire while on vacation near Jasper in 2024, and this is unfortunately the reality of the dry, hot weather that has come about due to climate change. Spokane, Washington, is currently being devastated by a large fire complex. It makes one nervous to vacation near forested areas, for sure!
On Saturday, we drove home from SFO and thankfully were able to pass by, but not be blocked by a new (Feliz) fire near the small town of Hopland which started late afternoon on Saturday (They later did close the highway 101 but the fire is now, thankfully, more contained).

While we've had warm and sunny weather (70 or so) in our coastal town, we're not imminently at risk of fire/evacuations (for the moment). The residents of all of these fire-stricken areas, and the brave men and women fighting these fires, are all in my prayers.
