Elk Prairie Stroll

We have continued to have seriously wet and rainy days up here on the North Coast. We got a one-day weekend Saturday reprieve from downpours and decided to drive north to Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park (about 45 minutes away), which usually (at least in past years) has had a first-Saturday-of-the-month road closure to allow pedestrians and bikes to take over a section of Newton B. Drury Parkway.

The main park road wasn't, in fact, closed when we got up there, but we still parked by Elk Prairie Campground and enjoyed viewing the many elk near Elk Prairie Campground and the kids (Niall, a fairly new bike rider!) were able to ride along the paths on their two-wheelers. 

It was so nice to see the sun through the mist and very restorative to get some good peaceful nature time in!

It's back to a rain-filled forecast tomorrow. We have to take advantage of the winter sun when we can!
