On Saturday night, we checked out another Portland establishment, a McMenamins Theater-Pub, this one on site at the (former, historic-- dating from 1915) Kennedy (Elementary) School, which also (now) includes guestrooms and a full brewery. The former-school setting was very interesting... but not too surprising, as Portland is definitely weird all-around. The website states cheekily, "Just don't run in the hallways, please. You might spill your beer!" There are several locations of these movie-pubs around the city and state and, despite the weirdness factor, it (also showing sporting events) is a very cool concept!
We saw "This is 40," a somewhat crude comedy with Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann and a sort-of- sequel to "Knocked Up." You could order food and drinks (including local brews and other alcoholic beverages), and then enjoy the big-screen movie from the comfort of very cozy lounge chairs and loveseats. At $3 a ticket, it was an entertaining bargain. Thanks to Apurva for taking the photo above! Fun times!!! Arcata has a "theater lounge" that I've been wanting to check out... maybe we soon will.

just an FYI ... Arcata Theater Lounge doesn't offer quite the amenities McMenamins.
