Our little sportsman

Iver somehow recently figured out how to do a genuine cartwheel (or round-off, if you want to split hairs) at school, and has been showing off, requesting me to "score" them (I told him about the days when gymnastics events were scored with up to perfect "10s.").

Here's one on camera, although he didn't land on his feet (so I gave it a "7"), although he is fully capable of doing so.

He's also been tossing around a frisbee with us in the garage, which is awesome. Kelvin and I bonded over leading Ultimate Frisbee games on Tuesdays in residency, and it was also one of my favorite med school (Saturday morning at Soldiers Field) activities. I think he has decent backhand throwing form for a 3-year-old!

He's also been participating in a six-week Saturday morning T-ball class also, which is fun to see.

We would love if he found sports-playing as enjoyable as we do!

The Growing Cousin Clan- Madness & Loudness

It's so fun to have cousins so close in age! Watching Iver and Kingston (3) interact and now play together (albeit sharing toys is a bit hit-or-miss) is really neat.

On Saturday, the older boys and dads went to the Great Wolf Lodge indoor waterpark, which was fun all around!

Gaming starting early

On Sunday, we checked out a new indoor play gym "We Play Loud" in Huntington Beach, which was a hit and which really wore out the toddlers! Kingston wanted to have an adult go down the slide with him, but we really had to do very little supervision at this place-- the kids could safely run free, which saved us from helicopter parenting.

 

 

 

 

  

We've had lots of time with cousins, aunties, etc.

Many hours in the company of the members of large families can be exhausting for introverts like me, and traveling 4 or more hours in the car each way to the airport to fly there is hard with little ones. However, it's so fun for the little ones (and there are many arms for baby-holding), and it will only be more fun to visit family as the littlest ones get older.

A huge thank you goes to our OC clan for lending us "ba ba" (bà nội) to watch little Niall for these next months when I return to work this week. See you all next time!

Joint Baptism, round two!

We headed to Orange County this past weekend for the cousins' joint baptism (round 2). 

Iver and Kingston (born 16 days apart) were baptized in 2015 at the same church (Christ Cathedral), and now Niall and Klian (born seven days apart) had the same honor. Some close friends and the Vu aunties (Theresa serving as Niall's godmother) attended! Thanks to Danny for taking so many photos to document the day.
