Trinidad and Tres

On Sunday, we took (Serena, Brad, and) the doggies to one of our favorite short hikes, the Trinidad Head. While the weather wasn't stellar (although not pouring like it was in December when K's family visited!!), it was still a pleasant walk.

We also went down to the Trinidad State Beach, where the main attraction was a seal carcass, picked over by vultures.

We actually saw some live seals on some of the rocks offshore.

Then, back at the house, we got to watch more of these two:

However, sometimes we only saw a solo dog (Pep) and saw "what happened."

Serena, Brad, and Shabu are back in Davis :(. Pepper, who turns three today, had a great pre-birthday weekend of fun!!!  We gave her a bit of extra "goodness" (some beef/oat muffins I baked) in her  breakfast bowl, but otherwise her birthday was celebrated with some peace and quiet-- with us back at work.

Woofstock

Serena and Brad (and Shabu), friends from residency (Serena is FINALLY done with her five-year FP/Psych program!!) came up this weekend, just in time for WOOFSTOCK!

 

The doggie festival in Eureka, sponsored by the Sequoia Humane Society, was not an event we had  attended before, but was a lot of fun!
 
One of the main events was the 18th annual "Mutt Strut," a half-mile or so walk down through Eureka's old town to the Boardwalk.

 

People really got into dressing their pooches up for the event!

While Shabu was not impressed, Pepper LOVED her free sample of doggie ice cream, which seemed refreshing on the balmy 60-degree day :)
