We had a family trip with K's family planned last summer to celebrate his dad's 70th birthday, but, like so many people had to do for so many events last year, we cancelled (well, postponed) it due to COVID.
Now with the U.S. opening back up, our families (minus the kids) fully vaccinated, it was so great to take our first flight since the pandemic to LA and make up for lost time (despite the masks, it felt surprisingly normal to fly and travel. I think this [almost 17 months] might have been the longest stretch without air travel in my entire life). It also felt amazing to sign out of my darned never-ending EMR and e-mail inbox for a true (long overdue and much-needed) VACATION, the first since the pandemic became a global one!

Cousin Angel (8) and her sister Subi now live in the two-bedroom in front of Kelvin's parents, which is excellent for daytime play!

The kids were so excited to be reunited and play at Kenn and Lisa's house!
Lots of (mostly nice, except when Klian wanted to call the cops on Iver) wrestling.
In some strange symmetry, 17 months after we last saw some of K's family (including Lisa and Klian), we celebrated K's Dad's 71st birthday, which falls just a day before our anniversary.
