Despite not feeling particularly patriotic/proud of America this year, we at least enjoyed having a day off work (Wednesdays are also my hardest day!) this week for the Independence Day Holiday.
We went with K's parents to Eureka's Old town celebration.
We took a ride on the old Speeder trains
We then took a short Madaket cruise

We ran into the Johnsons (this is us covering the kids' ears in anticipation of the foghorn)!

We didn't catch any fireworks (and haven't in all the years we've lived here!). We'd been in Fortuna on the evening of the 3rd, when they do their own, but couldn't stay up until 10 or 11p.m. to catch them and make it home at a reasonable hour! Eureka's are often fogged out, so we didn't even try. Maybe another year.
