Many of our friends on the coast know and love people living in and around Redding, California, about 2.5 hours east of us, where the Carr fire has been devastating Shasta County. The fire has now reached an area similar to the city of Philadelphia, with several people dead and many others homeless/evacuated due to the raging flames.
Santa Rosa (about 4 hours south of us) suffered devastating wildfires last year, and I can't imagine what it might be like to feel like you are actually in Hell, watching your home and city burn to the ground, to losing of your treasured belongings, and fearing for your life and that of your loved ones.
Pray for containment, safe evacuation, and for the victims to be able to rebuild their lives in the months and years to come.
